Design & Technology

"Design is thinking made visual."

Design & Technology at Charlton House

Subject Leader: Mr Musgrave

Design and Technology gives children the skills and ability to engage positively with the designed and made world. It recognises the uses of technology in daily life and embraces technological evolution in our everchanging society. Children learn how products and systems are designed and manufactured, how to be innovative and to make creative use of a variety of resources including digital technologies, to improve the world around them.

At Charlton House, we believe Design and Technology is a vitally important subject. The ability to be logical, creative and practical are skills which can be applied across many curriculum areas. The specific application of knowledge and skills from Design and Technology can be seen in maths and science, which collectively can prepare children for modern career aspirations, for example in engineering.
