Charlton House Admissions

School Admissions

Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions a parent or carer has to make. We therefore entirely empathise with you when selecting a new primary school as this process can be an overwhelming experience under normal circumstances and particularly so during the current pandemic restrictions. We therefore welcome you to Charlton House Independent School, Southampton.

We trust that our website provides an understanding of the ethos behind Charlton House Independent School and the nurturing environment and community that exists here at our school.

Charlton House Independent School offers a distinctive and unique educational experience. Whilst at our school, your child(ren) will be encouraged as an individual to attain a high standard of personal excellence whilst stimulated to discover their own, personal, individual strengths and interests. Simultaneously, they will be taught to appreciate the value of being a member of a community.

We welcome children aged 4 to 11 (Reception through to Year 6) from throughout the city and surrounding areas. Being an independent school, we do not have a catchment area. Prospective pupils are invited to join us at any point throughout the academic year and into any year group, provided we have capacity. Year groups are limited to 16 pupils currently.

We have an on-site nursery that caters for children aged 9 months through to 3 years of age (inclusive). The nursery is very much part of the community here at Charlton House and upon a pupil attaining the age of 4, we encourage the continuation of their participation within our community through further education with us here at Charlton House.

We are a non-selective school and we welcome all families regardless of religion, faith and culture.  Our Mission statement ‘To Love One Another’ is known by every child in our school and can be seen embodied on an everyday basis throughout school-life.

During this unprecedented period, regrettably we are unable to invite you to our planned open-days. However, we can still share our school experience with you and your family by way of a series of alternative mediums;

  • Personalised tours for individual families outside of school hours (Government guidance permitting)
  • Video tours and ‘virtual/video discussions’ with the Head Teacher and teaching staff are available upon request
  • Taster Days  are available for prospective pupils (Government guidance permitting).

We warmly invite you to request any of the above by way of contacting our school Admissions Office at admin@charltonhouseindependentschool.co.uk or by calling 02380 671739.
