Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

While we are away, the Church celebrates the Feast of Pentecost fifty days after Easter Sunday. Pentecost Sunday ends the season of Easter. Before he returned to his Father in Heaven, the risen Jesus visited his disciples and promised to send the Holy Spirit to help them. We read in Scripture that one morning, when the disciples were gathered together with Mary, the mother of Jesus, and some other women, they suddenly heard a noise like a strong wind. Then they saw what looked to be flames of fire over each of them. “And they were all filled with the holy Spirit.” (Acts of the Apostles, 2:4). This year, the Feast of Pentecost will be celebrated on Sunday, June 5.

Mrs Murray

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that our wonderful Mrs Murray will be leaving Charlton at the end of the year as she starts her semi-retirement. Mrs Murray has been an integral part of the teaching team here at Charlton and indeed the previous St Mary’s College. In her 11 years she has touched the lives of countless young people and staff and we are all truly grateful for all that she has done for us. I’m sure you will join me in wishing her well as she embarks on her next big adventure.

Mr Musgrave has successfully secure 8 children’s tickets to attend the Wimbledon Championships this year. Children will have the opportunity to watch matches on Court No. 1 on the first Tuesday of the tournament.

Parents of pupils in Years 4 and 5 are reminded to contact the school office to opt in or out of our draw. Names will be drawn out of a hat on the first week of the Summer 2 term.

Yesterday we celebrated the Feast of the Ascension, the day Jesus ascended into heaven after his resurrection.  This short film really helps to explain this for the children. Salvador Dali’s famous painting ‘Ascension’ is a stunning piece of work. Dali said that his inspiration for The Ascension of Christ came from a vivid dream in which he saw Christ rising into the nucleus of an atom,  In the midst of uncertainty, Christians recognize God’s presence with us, giving us courage to live out our Mission and hope for a future full of new life.
