Academic Year 2020-21 - Newsletter 1

Dear Parents

What a busy and exciting week this has been! I am so proud of how settled, calm and happy the children have been and the teachers are all delighted with the positive atmosphere and hard work already taking place in the classrooms.

Each week we are exploring a different aspect of our Mission Statement, ‘Love One Another’ and last week we spoke about how sharing smiles can make others feel happy and welcome. Two children from each class are chosen by their teachers each week for having displayed the value we are focusing on. See below for those awarded a heart.

Children in Mrs. Beale’s class have been busy working on their number bonds and handwriting whilst also exploring the outdoor area. Our other classes spent last week in Africa and this week they have been travelling across the Americas exploring the Geography, culture and music.

Last Friday saw our very first Celebration Assembly and several children received badges and with that, additional roles of responsibility. We would like our children at Charlton House to become responsible citizens in the wider world when they leave us and we can help prepare them for this by encouraging them to lead and to help others. The principle which underpins these roles is ‘To serve and not to be served’.

I hope you all enjoy a relaxing weekend

Covid-19 Update

All schools across the country are having to deal with new Government restrictions regarding Covid. These were updated yesterday. Please read the letter going out today which clarifies current guidance. We do appreciate how frustrating the situation is but ask that you understand that we are bound by the Government guidance below.

If anyone in the school becomes unwell with a new and persistent cough or a high temperature, or has a loss of or change in, their normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia), they must be sent home and advised to follow guidance for households with possible or confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, which sets out that they should self-isolate for at least 10 days and should arrange to have a test to see if they have coronavirus (COVID-19).

Be Inspiring

Each week we like to celebrate the wonderful achievements of children outside of school and add them to our newsletter. We would like to celebrate sporting events, clubs, music achievements and community support such as charity work and we have dedicated a special display board in the rotunda to share these achievements within the school.
If you would like your child to have a special mention for an achievement outside of school, please email the office on officecharltonhouse@gmail.com

Please Park Politely

We do appreciate that parking off-site can be a challenge on a winding, residential road, however, the decision was made in the best interests of our children. Please could we ask that you help relations with our new neighbours by making sure that you never park across their driveways. We would like to forge positive relationships with those living close by and would very much appreciate your support with this. Thank you
